On the morning of December 19, 2020, the congress to establish the Vietnam Association of Nourishing Intravenous and Gastrointestinal Tracts (VietSPEN) was held in Hanoi. Attending the meeting were: Assoc. TS. Nguyen Truong Son - Deputy Minister of Health, Assoc. TS. Nguyen Thi Xuyen - President of Vietnam Medical Association, Ms. Thang Thi Hanh - Director of NGO Department - Ministry of Home Affairs, Leaders of Departments, Departments, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Home Affairs together with more than 300 delegates officially belong to health units in the country.
The Vietnam Association of Intestinal and Gastrointestinal Nourishment was established under Decision No. 972 / QD-BNV dated 17/11/2020 of the Ministry of Home Affairs with the principle of being a voluntary social-professional organization, benefits of medical staff specialized in nourishing the intravenous and digestive tract, striving for the development of the profession in particular and of the health sector and the cause of protection, care and improvement of the people's health Generally speaking.
Ms. Thang Thi Hanh - Director of the Department of Non-Governmental Organization - Ministry of Home Affairs awarded the Decision on approving the establishment of the Vietnam Association of Intestinal and Gastrointestinal Nourishment to the Doctor. BS. Luu Ngan Tam - Head of Advocacy Committee to establish Association.
Speaking at the congress, Assoc. TS. Nguyen Truong Son - Deputy Minister of Health emphasized: “Nutrition is an important part in treating patients. The establishment of the VietSPEN Association together with the Vietnam Nutrition Association and the Dietetic Nutrition Association are three legs in Vietnam's nutritional strategy. In addition to health care for the community, we also take care and provide nutritional treatment for patients with chronic diseases, the elderly,… ”. The Deputy Minister of Health also assigned the VietSPEN Association to build a good scientific environment for professionals and scientists; promote scientific research, compile guidelines; provide scientific advice, advise and propose to competent authorities, coordinate to develop guidelines, policies and procedures in diagnosis guidance and nutritional intervention for patients; gather and unite members, bring into play internal strengths to develop expertise and develop the clinical nutrition industry; to cooperate with regional and international nutrition associations.

The President of the Vietnam Medical Association, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thi Xuyen - former Deputy Minister of Health also delivered a speech at the Congress. Accordingly, the Association for the Nourishment of the Intestinal and Gastrointestinal tract of Vietnam is a gathering place for leading domestic and foreign experts, professionals, and scientists related to the Association's fields of activity to study. practice, exchange knowledge and experience, improve professional qualifications, help develop the specialty of clinical nutrition in particular and Vietnamese nutrition in general. The congress held the election of the Executive Board of the Association for the term 2020-2025 with 17 members representing medical units in the country. TS.BS. Luu Ngan Tam, Head of Nutrition Department of Cho Ray Hospital, Head of the Association's advocacy committee was elected as the Association's Chairman. The congress also discussed and voted on the Association's Charter, the Association's program of activities and approved the resolution of the Congress term 2020-2025.
